Who are we?

Picture
The Dunedin South Presbyterian Church was formed in 1994 by the Parishes of St James and Musselburgh/Tainui, joining together.  We are a congregation which has enjoyed strong evangelical ministries.  Our members sit confortably with the holistic creeds of the Church.

We are a Parish of the Presbyterian Chuch of Aotearoa New Zealand.  We hold the scriptures of the
Old and New Testament as the supreme standard of faith.  We are growing to be a mission
minded Parish and are not ashamed to Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as the crucified Lord.

We welcome all people and seek to serve them to the glory of God.

CHURCH MINISTER

Rev. Henry Mbambo

Rev. Henry Mbambo - sermons
Henry was inducted as minister of Dunedin South Presbyterian Church in October 2008. He previously served the congregation of Garden Presbyterian Church in Lusaka, Zambia for seven years before moving to New Zealand.

Graduating from Justo Mwale Theological College in Lusaka, Zambia in 1998, Henry went on to do his  BA (Hons)studies  at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2002. In 2004, he studied for his Masters.  The Masters work was in the area of Practical Theology at the University of Pretoria which he did from 2004-2005.

He graduated with a distinction in the Master’s thesis focusing on Domestic Violence. Before moving to New Zealand, Henry completed another Masters Degree in Theological Studies at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, USA. There he majored in Mission and the thesis was on building local Churches that are “Self-governing, Self-propagating and Self- supporting.”

Henry’s vision statement;
“My vision for the Dunedin South parish is to build a church that is missional, responding to the needs in the local community and beyond. A church that will always be nurtured for mission and engaging in mission is what we want to become for the sake of Christ our Lord.”

At Dunedin South Presbyterian Church, all members of the community are welcome and are encouraged to explore and establish their faith in Christ. In case you are in Dunedin, New Zealand, come and visit us on King Edwards Street, South Dunedin or Queens’ Drive, Musselburgh.
